Off-Shore Power Boat Races

May 9, 2000.  For the first time, Off-Shore Power Boat races were held in San Diego Bay.

Normally run in the open ocean, the San Diego bay provided fantastic viewing of the race that is not available when running in the open ocean.

The 7-mile circular course was always within 100-200 yards of the viewing area.

Great Setting

The course and pit row was right along the downtown shoreline where the convention center, Embarcadaro, and other scenic attractions.  That's a Marriott hotel in the background.

Boats are just getting ready to leave pit area for the race.

Pit Row

Viewing the race was free from miles of shore, but for a few Danaro, you could get into to pit area.  Being up-close and personal really makes a difference.  Smell of the exhaust - Roar of engines - Great Tim Allen stuff - Arrrh, Arrrh, Arrrh!
