| A Strategic Viewpoint
The web is not an empire unto itself. It must enhance – through innovation –
traditional business activities.
Gary Clark
I have worked on and implemented a variety of web initiatives since it's early
proliferation.
While managing these activities from a business integration approach, I also developed many valuable skills needed to create a web presence.
This includes:
- Developer level
experience with Microsoft FrontPage
and other web authoring packages such as DreamWeaver.
- Expertise with HTML, JavaScript, ASP, and VBscript.
- Expert skill in graphic creation and web optimization, Proficient with programs such as PhotoShop, PaintShopPro, and
PhotoPaint.

1996) - Modified and maintained divisional corporate web site for York in 1996.

I wrote a data driven, search and display, engine for building dynamic pages containing user
selected information.
In this application – a photo database search – the user selects which family, family member, or a time
frame to be displayed.

Web Development -
FrontPage

I have used Microsoft FrontPage over 3
years, developing not only this site, but also maintenance and prototype
development for York International. While the WYSIWYG programs
like this speed up development process, I still need to 'tweek' the HTML
code many times to get desired results.

|
Graphics Programs

I use a variety of graphics
editing tools including PhotoShop, PaintShopPro, and PhotoPaint.
They each have varying strengths. I find in web development, like in
any creative task, it is best to use the right tool for the right job.

Web Page Design -
DreamWeaver

DreamWeaver offers some
interesting and additional features that FrontPage does not. Many of
my recent updates and features were accomplished with DreamWeaver from
Macromedia

|
JavaScript
While many programs assist in the
development of many advanced features, I have the skill and experience
in manually working the underlying code.
The above Rollover button routines use
JavaScript functions and HTML code.

Xara 3D - Text Rendering

This is one of my favorite
rendering programs. It is very inexpensive, easy to use, and has
great 3D text rendering capabilities, including the ability to create
animated GIFs. Check them out at Xara.com.
