Mathew J.J. Cagle was born in 1829. He married Rebecca Bone,
born 1830, in Montgomery County, TN probably in the early 1850s. The Cagles moved to
Lincoln County, KS in the 1880s along with the Allen Baggett who married America Cagle, the
daughter of Mathew and Rebecca.
Some of the Cagles continued to move around with the Baggetts, including southern
Kansas and Oklahoma

believe the following thumbnail pictures to be members of the Cagle
family. Most of these are small tin type photographs approximately 2 x 3 inches. The
tintype became very popular during the Civil War and immediately after. These pictures
were probably taken in the late 1860s and 1870s. By the 1880s pictures were generally
printed on paper.
These pictures were in the
possession of Ora and Maggie Clark. Maggie (Struble's) ancestors are accounted for in pictures as are the Clarks. These could be
Baggetts (these were with other tintypes I believe to be Baggetts) but the facial
resemblance is not apparent. As the picture of America Cagle shows, most of these people
bare a facial resemblance to her.
America had quite a few brother and sisters. I have put names of these
siblings with the pictures, guessing who was who based on relative ages, assuming all
pictures were taken in a general time span. It's a place to start.
